Play in Pink
Instead of the usual Thursday Seniors Competition, on Thursday, 23rd September last the ladies and the gents joined forces for a mixed scramble, “Play in Pink”, to raise funds for Breast Cancer Research. There was a wonderful, lively atmosphere at the Clubhouse all day with everybody sporting pink of some sort or another. The Lady Captain entered into the spirit of the day by having a pink dye in her hair. Also resplendent in a pink jumper was Johnny Martin, while some other competitors, most notably, Dympna Butler and Seamus Mulhern brought pink golf balls with them. The format of the competition was a four person mixed scramble and it was a tremendous success with 17 teams competing. The winning team was Chris Lowe, Tom Owens, Terri Gray and Nova Fariss with 48 points. Reggie Carroll, Dermot Monaghan and Jim Newcombe were second with 46 points.
