Senior Cup.

Well I don’t think we will be forgetting our Senior Cup debut for a while. Unfortunately it came to an end on the 26th Hole. (The 8th extra hole). It was a match that will live long in the memory. Congratulations to Enniscrone and best wishes in the remainder of the competition. Well done to our lads, you put in a magnificent performance. Danny Egan won on 17 3&1. Dylan Beirne won on 15 4&3. Gordon Kavanagh and Finan Farrell were defeated in Enniscrone. So it came down to Nathan Flynn’s match. Nathan was 3 down playing 12, but won 12 & 14 to bring the match back to 1 down. Pars on 15 & 16 kept the deficit at 1 and then 2 spectacular birdies on 17 was only the beginning of the drama. Nathan birdied 18 to bring the match into extra Holes. What transpired over the next 8 holes was golf of the highest quality. Enniscrone piped it on the 26th with a superb up and down. Well done to Nathan and Eoin on providing hours of entertainment.

As we suspected our lads are well able for this level and they have firmly wrote another chapter in the ever dramatic tale of Carrick’s interclub teams!!

Jack O Sullivan.

On Tuesday nights Liam Bruen’s Jack O Sullivan team entered the scene versus Strandhill. A strong team of Danny Egan. Sean Mulvey. Nathan Flynn. Gordon Kavanagh. Sean Bohan. Alan Loftus. Dylan Beirne. Owen Gibney. Darren Conlon.Won 4 1  to proceed to the next round. Well done Liam and team.

Jimmy Bruen.

The quest to follow up our Connacht titles of 2005 and 2009 continues. Fiachra Nearys Jimmy Bruen team faced their biggest test of the season so far with the zone final versus Co Sligo. With 3 matches at home Carrick were favourites. Danny Egan and Keith Duignan got the 1st point on the board at home, quickly followed by Paul Roche & Sean Mulvey. Nathan Flynn and Finan Farrell were in a tight game 1 up heading for the 16th Green when news broke from away that Sean Bohan and Paul O Brien had snatched the vital win away from home. Gordon Kavanagh and Alan Ffrench were called in just 1 down on 16. So with that Carrick progress to their third successive Connacht Semi Final vs Athenry.
