That the course was playing long and soft was reflected in the scoring. Practically all of the placings had to be decided on countbacks but there was no countback needed for the winner, Brendan Lynch, on a score of 37 points. The incoming Captain, Albert Hogg was second with 36 points and Aidan Sheerin was third on the same score. The much travelled Reggie Carroll took the prize for the front nine with a score of 17 points and the evergreen Johnny Martin back to his best after his recent layoff took the back nine with a score of 19 points.
