Notes for 17th October
Despite the gloomy weather forecast we enjoyed a fine day on Thursday 17th last and we played a full 18 holes over the old nine, which was in fairly good shape. The winner on the day was Reggie Carroll who gave an exhibition of scintillating golf with a wonderful score of 42 points. PJ Sharkey was second with 38 points and Paddy Duffy was third with 36 points. JP Carney, showing that he was not hampered by his new handicap, took the prize for the front nine with 18 points and Tom Martin took the prize for the back nine also with 18 points. Our efficient Captain reminds us that the Josie Murray Memorial Trophy competition will be held next Thursday, 24th October and that soup and sandwiches will be available after the competition in the ‘Bunker Bar’.
