The last away outing of the year was held at Strandhill Golf Club on Monday, 7th October with a good turnout of 23 golfers on what turned out to be a fine, breezy day. We were delighted to be graced with the presence of Sylvester Kivlehan who was in his usual combative form after a long absence. JP Carney took first prize on a countback with 34 points from Chris Lowe in second place and Leo Mulvey was third with 33 points (also on a countback). Our charismatic Captain, Robbie Donaldson won the front nine with 20 points and Jim Newcombe the back nine with 17 points.
The weather dictated that we had a nine hole competition on Thursday 10th October and the winner was Reggie Carroll with 16 points; Aidan Sheerin was second with 15 points; PJ Sharkey third with 14 on a countback from Brendan Lynch also with 14 points. The Josie Murray Memorial is now fixed for Thursday 24th October.
