The Frank Nolan Cup
The Frank Nolan Cup was played for on Thursday 25th July and there was a great turnout of members in honour of our late member. Coffee and Scones were provided by the family on arrival and while there was a nasty drizzle in or around tee time, that soon cleared up. The Cup and a lovely array of prizes was on display in the clubhouse prior to the competition. The winner of the Cup was Seamus Sweeney with a fine score of 40 points, helped to a great degree by a fortuitous break on the 17th. Johnny Martin was second with 39 points and John Burke was third with 38 points. The Front Nine prize went to Aiden Sheerin (21 points) and the Back Nine prize went to Robbie Donaldson (21 points). Breege Nolan along with her son, Derek and Derek’s wife, Denise were present for the prize-giving and Breege, assisted by our Captain, Robbie presented the prizes to the winners. Robbie Donaldson concluded with words of gratitude to the Nolan Family for whom Derek responded with a splendidly short speech.
