President’s Prize to the Seniors
There was a very large turnout of senior golfers on Thursday last the 27th June for the President’s Prize to the Seniors on a very fine Summer’s day. The winner of the Prize was Paddy Duffy with a score of 39 points and he was presented with a very fine prize by the President, Mr Jim King, at the presentation function in the Clubhouse on Saturday evening. Second on the day (on a countback) was Tommy Mulvey with 37 points. Seamus Sweeney was third with 37 points but undoubtedly Seamus could have been in the running for the first prize having failed to capitalise on two fine shots on the ninth and then, worse of all, incurring a penalty on the 13th hole by following the leader and playing off the wrong tee. The front nine was won by Leo Mulvey with 20 points and Shane Keville took the back nine with a fine score of 21 points. None of the group which played off the wrong tee at the 13th was available for interview afterwards.
