The Christmas Dinner
The golfing year for the Seniors came to an end last Thursday, 13th December with the Annual Christmas Dinner in the Clubhouse, which was preceded by mass celebrated by Fr. Martin Mulvaney. A fine three course meal was provided by Charlie and his kitchen staff and Kevin did a grand job on looking after the drinks service. Our outgoing Captain excelled on his last function with a fine speech, thanking Jim Newcombe for preparing the altar for the mass and also thanking the usual suspects. He remarked that the standard of golf during the year had been quite high but was pleased that there had been many different winners, which was testament to the efficiency of the handicapping system. He then proceeded to award the hamper prizes to the hamper winners. Luckily Johnny Martin was on hand to collect his multifarious prizes – The Golfer of the Year Trophy; The Singles Matchplay Trophy and a Christmas Hamper.
